Is my kitten's loose stool normal after recent vaccinations?

It is not a typical reaction to the feline distemper vaccine. If he is otherwise acting fine then you could withhold food for 12 hours and see if the vomiting and diarrhea resolves. If not, he should be rechecked by your veterinarian to determine the cause and treat. Your veterinarian can prescribe medications to help control the vomiting and diarrhea. Your vet can test a stool sample for parasites and then prescribe a dewormer, if needed. If he is lethargic then he should be examined as soon as possible. Hope he feels better soon.

This can be normal! You can see some vomiting after getting vaccines and given that Faelan only vomited once, I would not be too worried. Plus he sounds like he is otherwise acting normally. I would keep an eye on him and if you see protracted vomiting, diarrhea, signs of an allergic reaction (facial swelling, difficulty breathing, then I would be worried and rush him into an ER vet immediately. If she is eating and drinking and acting normally I would not consider this an emergency. Give it a couple days to see if the stool firms up. Vaccines can give a kitten diarrhea for a day or two afterwards, and it's a good since that he is otherwise acting normal. It could also be that he has intestinal worms, and I would make sure he is up to date on his deworming treatments. Panacur is a brand I recommend to give to kittens, it's a three day course of treatment you can get OTC from a pet store or your vet's office. You would have to give Henry a second course of the treatment two weeks after the first ends to kill all the worms. He should then be dewormed every month until he is six months old, and then every three months thereafter. If he is up to date on his deworming treatments and the diarrhea doesn't clear up in 48 hours, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. You can try feeding him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts to see if that helps as well. If it does help, continue the bland diet for a couple of days, and then start slowly adding back in his normal diet. I hope this helps!

Typical vaccine reaction is a slight temperature, soreness, vomiting and very lethargic. It sounds like Minnie might of had a mild vaccine reactions if he symptoms started right after the vaccine. However if she was vaccinated days before this started it is unlikely they are related. I would recommend taking her back to the vet for a good exam to make sure she does not have something more serious going on like a virus or infection. She might need some medications to help resolve her issues. hope that helps

Antibiotics, diet change, and a new home causing stress can all cause loose stools, so it could be a combination of these things causing it, however I would schedule Gizmo's checkup anyway since that's always a good idea to do with any new pet, especially one that is already currently on medications. Your vet can rule out any other health issues, deworm in case of parasites, and help you get started on a vaccination plan or treatment plan for any other underlying issues.

Hello sorry to hear about Ash. Vaccines can definitely cause allergic reactions some of which may present as dietary signs. However, the deworming may have also cause any potential parasites which could have been present in your kitten to die off and causes changes in his stool color. As long as he is playing around, eating, drinking, and not having any vomiting or diarrhea then I would just monitor him for now. I would recommend bribing him to your veterinarian if he does how ever develop any of the signs I mentioned. Hope this helps and best of luck!
