Why does my kitten bite my nose at night and how can I stop it?

This behavior is relatively common in kittens separated from their mother at a young age. I don't know that you could stop this behavior now that it is ingrained - you may want to restrict access to your bedroom in the morning instead. First, have Pippin examined by your veterinarian to diagnose respiratory infection or inflammatory disease that could be causing the congestion. Redirect her suckling behavior to an object. If she bites or nips you, correct her immediately and provide an alternative. If she persists, discontinue interaction until she settles down. Every time she nips or bites, put her down or remove her from the room. Be firm and consistent.

Kittens are very rambunctious creatures and require A LOT of stimulation to keep them entertained and tire them out. I recommend playing with toys that you can dangle from a distance from Woozy so he can't scratch or bite you. You can also shine a laser pointer around a room and he probably won't be able to resist chasing it. It is also very normal for kittens (and even adult cats) to "suckle" or "make biscuits" as some call it. This is when they bite and suckle on something like a blanket and knead with their paws. There are different theories as to why cats do this. Some think it is because they were weaned too soon. But another, more commonly accepted theory, is that this behavior is very comforting to cats, since it mimics them nursing on their mother. If he wants to suckle on your or your clothing, I recommend just giving him a blanket instead. I hope this is helpful!

She’s just a playful kitten. I recommend playing with her during the day so she sleeps at night. With a bitey kitten I play with a toy on a string, a ball for her to chase or a laser pointer. I wouldn’t discipline her for biting since that may result in more biting. Feed her a wet food meal just before bed and that will keep her full so she doesn’t wake you up to get food. These are likely love bites, and play behavior. She is also in the middle of teething (her permanent teeth coming in) and the biting may relieve some of the uncomfortable feeling involved. If you punish her for doing this she will only react aggressively. The best way is to just ignore it, keep the door to the bathroom shut when you take a shower, and stop petting her as soon as she nibbles. Eventually she will make the connection "if I nibble, she stops petting me".... This should cease in time.

Hi, your cat is very young still so being playful it is not unexpected however if she is being aggressive too there are lots of things to consider. You can try to offer her as many occasions to display normal predatory behaviour, such as toys and feeding puzzles. If she does not have any access to outdoors, would it be possible to have a Catio arranged for her to experience some kind of sensory stimulation/observe outside etc ? Does she have places at home where she can be left undisturbed and rest ?
