Kitten bit me, I'm bleeding. Is it serious? When do I vaccinate her?

This type of wounds must be considered always infected. A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. A cat's mouth is usually full of bacteria that can result in severe infections and cellulitis in humans that get bit. You should check with a local physician as soon as possible. If this left a wound on your finger that you are concerned about, you will need to consult a physician about whether it needs treatment or not - I'm afraid we can't give any advice about human medical issues.

Rabies can only be contracted by being bit by animal that is shedding the virus. The biggest concern for indoor only cats is if a bat has gotten into the house because we do not always know if that bat has bitten a cat. If Bonnie is not vaccinated for Rabies, then she may need to be quarantined for a period of time (usually 10 days) to make sure that she does not develop any signs of Rabies. That quarantine may be able to be in your house if you don't have any other animals or may need to be at a vet clinic or shelter. I would recommend contacting your veterinarian to discuss the specific legal requirements in your area. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Koneko is very cute! I can't make out the scratch on the 2nd picture. Cat bites can be very dirty and commonly cause infections or abscesses. Koneko could have an abscess forming for could be painful after being attacked. She could also be a little traumatized. I would ask your neighbors who they use for Veterinary care. Some large animal (horse or cow) also are mixed animal Vets that also treat cats and dogs. Or I would call your local SPCA and see if they have a low cost Veterinary clinic built in. The best thing for Koneko is to have an exam done, that way we can bet her better. She also needs to start her vaccinations and be dewormed. Until she is better and had her shots I would keep her indoors. I hope this helps and I wish Koneko the best!
