What age should I switch my kitten to adult food and add wet food?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

So I have an 8 month old, Female, Main Coon / Tabby mix and I was wondering when I should change her kitten food to adult food. And if I should start her on wet foods as well?

Great question! When Jinx is 12 months of age, you should transition her to an adult food. You can start her on wet food as well now, just make it a kitten formulated wet food. Give her very small amounts at first to make sure it doesn't upset her stomach.
