My indoor cat seems fine. Does she need annual vet visits & shots? Cost?

Do i need to do an annual check up and vaccination for my indoor cat even if she seems okay ? And how much does it aproximately cost?

An annual check is always recommended to confirm good health or to catch potential illnesses early on.
Cost will vary by geographic location. Contact your local veterinary clinic and ask how much an annual exam (or initial exam for new patients) would cost. Most, if not all, clinics will provide a cost or estimate if requested.

I always recommend yearly exams for cats and dogs. I think it is the first step for proactive health. The sooner issues are realized the quicker we can intervene and help.

As for vaccines The "cat distemper" lasts a year after the kitten series. Then if they come back the following year they are usually 3 years in length. For Rabies there are 2 choices for cats: the first rabies they ever receive is good for 1 year. When they come back the following year you have a choice between a 1 year or a 3 year vaccine. The 3 year, if it is the Pure Vax Rabies, is more expensive. I always recommend the Pure Vax vaccine whether it is the 1 year or the 3 year.

I am in the US and I see you are in Lebanon. Even in the US the cost of Veterinary care is regional. I recommend calling some Veterinarians in your area to get idea of the costs.

My 7-month-old cat had shots. Does she need another vet visit?

Hi, Vaccination as an adult cat who is not strictly indoors is annually so if she had her shots in Sep she is covered till Sep 2019 . Deworming is recommended every 3 months so she may be due that by now from her vet. And anti flea treatment is also recommended routinely, the frequency of application depends on the product used. How much is a new kitten's first vet visit, shots, and exam?

Hi there. This will vary quite a bit depending on where you live and what clinic you go to, so it's hard to give a good "general" answer for the entire US. But to give you a general idea, in my area, the total cost for a first kitten visit (exam, FeLV/FIV test, fecal exam +/- deworming, first set of vaccines, and first dose of flea/HW meds) would usually be in the $150-250 range. In some parts of the country, it could be considerably more - so if cost is a concern, I would suggest calling around to some local clinics to ask about their prices before your visit.

What's the cost to get my 1-year-old cat's yearly vaccinations?

Hi there and thank you for your question! A cat needs a yearly feline distemper vaccine and rabies vaccine (although the rabies vaccine can be one every one or 3 years). If Tyrion is an outdoor cat at all, he will need a yearly feline leukemia vaccine. Different hospitals have different prices, but I would be prepared to spend around $100 if not more on your yearly vaccine update visit.

Do Petco vets need my dog's records for an exam? What's the cost?

It is definitely preferable to have records from a previous vet, especially if there are any ongoing medical conditions. Most vaccines are given once per year, so proof isn’t necessary unless it has been less than a year. Exams and vaccines vary in cost depending on your area.
