My hedgehog has green poop, but he's active. Is this normal?

Green feces in a hedgehog is usually an indication of simple gastrointestinal upset. There are a variety of causes for GI upset in these guys, usually arising from dietary indiscretion. They can also be the victim of some GI parasites. I would recommend having the feces looked at microscopically to rule out a parasites. If there is no diarrhea and Tep's appetite is OK however, I don't see a need to advise for veterinary intervention at this time. If there is a decreased appetite and evidence of loose stool, finding someone to examine your hedgehog might be useful. Hope this makes sense.

Hello! Quilliam could have any number of problems. His feces could be green and mucousy from parasites, a bacterial infection, a liver problem, or from eating something he shouldn’t have. In order to get a better idea what is going on, the feces should be examined for parasites, fungus, and bacteria. A full physical exam and perhaps X-rays or blood work would also be helpful and your veterinarian would be able to do this. There isn’t really anything you can do at home aside from evaluate his diet and make sure he isn’t eating inappropriate food or items. Good luck.

Green stools could indicate an internal parasite infection. She may have had parasites all along or she may have contracted something from her prey. I personally don't think that stool looks all that abnormal/green. If I were you I would monitor her closely and if this type of stool continues then I would recommend you speak to a reptile veterinarian and have a fecal test done. Stool can change color based on what a dog has eaten. Button may have gotten into something in the yard or snatched some people food or had his diet changed. There are some less likely metabolic issues that can cause very green stool but in the absence of other signs I would not be too worried about this. As long as Buttons is acting normal and his stools are formed (not runny or soft) I would not worry.
