Is it okay for my healthy cat to eat hydrolyzed protein food?

If she's not in failure, it would give a good baseline for future blood testing. It will not hurt both cats to be on the special diet. Hill's (Science Diet) makes a prescription urinary s/d diet and a c/d diet. If it is SO, then it must a diet made by Royal Canin. Royal Canin S/O diet is OK to feed to all the cats as is Hill's c/d multicare diet. The s/d diet is probably OK if it is only going to be a short term diet.

If you are feeding Hill's y/d diet, then yes, you can give it to all the cats. The cats that are not hyperthyroid though need iodine supplementation since the y/d diet is an iodine-restricted diet. This is VERY important. It is recommended that you take those healthy cats aside once a day and feed them a tablespoon (per cat) of regular canned cat food to increase their iodine intake. Aww, they are a pretty adorable pair! The short answer is, 'yes," that is fine. This will not harm your other dog to be on long term as well. The longer answer is that if he is a working dog, or is a very athletic dog (regularly goes for 3+mile runs, does agility, etc) then a less protein restricted maintenance diet would be better for him. It certainly doesn't hurt Her Khan to eat both diets. I do shy away from using any exotic meats such as rabbit or venison, just in case he were to develop IBD as an older cat. I think sticking to 'normal' proteins is just fine. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions
