Is hairball food safe for my overweight cat with no hairball issues?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 8 months old

At his last vet visit I was informed that Aquiylan is slightly overweight and it was suggested that I find either a high fiber or a weight management food for him. The best option I can find is a combo hairball& weight management. He's never had a problem with hairball however. Is it likely to mess him up if I switch him gradually? (Or if you could recommend a good food. He has a rather active life playing with the puppy and is currently on friskies indoor formula)

There is no reason why he shouldn't eat a hairball formula, these tend to contain increased fiber to improve bowel mobility and this sounds like a good fit. Change food slowly over 7-10days to prevent upset

My cat has hairballs. What's an affordable hairball food or medicine?

If he likes his current food then you can add in a hair ball medicine like catlax or laxatone. You can give this to him 2-3 times per week. If you don’t feel like you will be able to do that then I would go back to the food you were feeding before since it seemed to help. I like science diet, Royal canin, Iams, and eukanuba which all should have affordable hair all formula options. I hope this helps!

Is Hill's Science Perfect Weight food safe for a non-overweight cat?

Bananas is such a cute name! That food is labeled for over weight cats, she can eat it but you may see that she loses weight. You can counter that by feeding her separately a normal cat food at least 2-3x daily. You may also look for a food labeled for multiple cat households as it tends to be a moderate calorie diet. Hi, yes that will be fine . I would also look into increasing his water intake by adding some water to his food/using a water fountain. I would also consider using lax a past to help until things settle. Hope Mr Boo gets better soon !

It is the Science Diet metabolic weight management diet. If you wish to not use a weight loss diet then any of the Science Diet foods for adult cats would be great for him.
