Can my new feral cat share litter, food, and water with my cats?

Yes, I would keep both cats completely separated (separate litter, bowls...etc) until you have your new kitty checked out and treated for parasites as well as tested for Felv/FIV. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

It's not the litter box sharing that I would be worried about. It is the direct contact between the two cats that would make me nervous. He could transmit to her any number of diseases: rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, herpes virus, panleukopenia, feline leukemia, FIV, etc..........The most Ivy would "get" from the other cat by sharing the litter box would be roundworms or hookworms and chances are she already has those. Both cats need to be dewormed and vaccinated as soon as possible. Ivy is old enough now and the other cat is way overdue. Have the stray examined and treated by your veterinarian. Once he has recovered from his wounds, have him vaccinated and dewormed. Keep them separated during this time. Allow them to hear and smell one another through a closed door. Once they have acclimated to the sounds and smell of a new cat, allow them to see each other at a distance for ever increasing periods of time. Progress to placing the new cat in a closed carrier in the room with your cat until she acclimates. The use of pheromone products, such as Feliway spray or plug in diffuser, may decrease any anxiety or aggression.

Provide her several litterboxes. You may need to pick her up and place her in the litterbox. If you have a porch area, try placing a box there. As far as feeding, offer her a variety of wet and dry foods. If she fails to eat within 48 hours, you should take her back to your veterinarian. Ask about an appetite stimulant.

It would be prudent to keep him separated from your cat until he is examined by your veterinarian. The kitten should be dewormed, given flea medication if necessary and vaccinated before he is introduced to your cat. A blood test for FeLV and FIV is also recommended.

Cats can become stressed by other cats but they do often work things out eventually. There are a few things you can adjust to help decrease stress. If you have other cats or dogs, if they can access the litter box, it may cause Luna to be afraid that she could find herself trapped in the box. Cats are a prey species in the wild and they still retain those instincts. Hi there and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Congratulations on your new kitty! In these situations it is best to do introductions very slowly. Some suggestions I have for you are as follows: 1) Use a Feliway diffuser to reduce overall tension in household 2) Go back to the beginning and over the first week introduce by smell only (introducing cats to each others bedding or something that has their scent on it) 3) Then introduce by sight only but no direct interaction. Do this for a week 4) Finally introduce cats together but only with direct supervision and with plenty of escape routes for both cats. Only leave them together for a very short time at first 5) Have plenty of tall cat towers and other things for the cats so they can observe each other from a distance 6) Have at least 3 litter boxes in different locations and definitely continue to feed separately and have separate water bowls.
