My dog vomited. Could it be from licking soda or recent vaccinations?

Hi there. If it's been a week since her vaccinations, it's unlikely that her current vomiting issues would be related to this - most vaccine reactions or side effects are seen within the first 24-48 hours. There are many different things that could cause vomiting in an older dog like this, so it's hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine her and run some tests. Because of this, I would recommend taking her to the vet tomorrow for an exam. He/she can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and see what kind of treatment is needed.

Because of the vomiting, I recommend getting your pet checked by your vet as soon as possible. Continued vomiting is very concerning and can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance as well as low blood sugar. He might have eaten something that either disagreed with him or something that has gotten stuck somewhere in his gastrointestinal tract. He could be sore from a hidden injury you are unaware of, he could have been exposed to some sort of toxin or irritant in his environment or this could be early signs of another condition or disease process. Your pet may need IV fluids to help support his/her system and to be fasted at the same time in order to give the gut a rest. Your vet can do an exam, blood work and possibly x-rays to determine the cause of the illness and suggest an effective treatment plan.

Oh no, poor Lucky! That certainly doesn't sound like a normal reaction to the vaccine, and I could check to see if he has any hives on him. If he does, that can be a sign of an allergic reaction to the vaccines and he should see a vet immediately. If he doesn't have any hives, I would keep an eye on him for now. If you see persistent vomiting or diarrhea, swelling around his muzzle, face, and eyes, or difficulty breathing, then he will need to see a vet right away. Coco may be stressed from the visit or having a mild reaction to the vaccinations. You can try to offer her a small meal of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice to see if this settles her stomach. However, if her vomiting persists or if any other signs of illness develop (like diarrhea, inappetance, or lethargy) I recommend having her examined by a veterinarian right away. As long as your dog has all his vaccines and they are kept up to date, he won't get deadly diseases such as parvo, distemper, or rabies from your mother's dog. There could be another reason why your dog isn't eating or drinking, and has thrown up. He could have a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or could have pancreatitis among other causes. Given that he has drank water and if it's stayed down, I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. I would recommend that you have Dahlia examined by a vet. Poor appetite and vomiting are not likely related to vaccines administered 3 weeks ago. There can be lots of causes for this, such as dietary intolerance or indiscretion, food allergy, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, IBD, pancreatitis, among others. The vet will do a thorough examination and may recommend diagnostics such as x-rays or bloodwork.

If it is just from changing his diet then this should stop very shortly.
