My dog stands on hind legs to pee, urinating less. Is it a UTI?

The straining to urinate along with the increased thirst may indeed indicate a developing UTI. You would need to have Zo physically examined by your veterinarian for confirmation. A sterile urine sample should be collected and submitted for urinalysis and urine culture/sensitivity. This may identify the organism responsible as well as the best antibiotic to use in treatment. Your vet may recommend abdominal x-rays or ultrasound to rule out kidney or bladder stones. Normally of dogs refuse to urinate in certain situations they won’t posture or even try to go. If Lexie is posturing to urinate but nothing is coming out that sounds more to me like cystitis, or a urinary tract infection. As for humping people's backs, it could be that she is becoming sexually mature leading to this behavior. I would have her seen by a vet in the morning. The vet can do a physical exam, routine blood tests, urinalysis, and possibly x-rays to diagnose what is causing her to pee a little at a time, and then can discuss treatment options with you. Yes, you sure try the turf product. Works well for many people. If he already had a UTI at such a young age I would be worried it has recurred or it was never completely resolved (not sure how long ago it was). Hello. This may or may not be a problem. You do not indicate his age, but if he is a young dog, this may just be behavioral. If he is older , he may have an enlarged prostrate gland, even with him being neutered. And, at any age, there is always the possibility of a urinary tract infection. She may indeed have a UTI, but also a slipped disc in her spine could make urination painful, or bladder stones.
