How to stop my puppy eating adult dog food from auto feeder at night?

I would keep Soska locked in another room while you feed your puppy the additional two meals. I would recommend feeding her twice a day, however, Twenty-four hours is a long time to go between meals, and if you divide her daily allotment of food into two equal meals fed once in the morning and once at night, she would be less likely to go after the puppy's food. The automatic feeders are great ! (When working correctly :)). Luna is lucky to have one. She may be a little hungry this evening since she is likely used to eating twice daily. I would offer her 1/8 cup of food at her regular time tonight. If she doesn’t eat it all you can pick it up and restart her Normal schedule of 1/4 cup twice daily tomorrow.

I often recommend trying a programmable feeder for this problem. You can program the feeder to provide an amount of food at a certain time, and dogs are generally smart enough to know that the machine (and not you!) provides the food at a certain time and will sit in front the feeder until the meal shows up!

You can feed the fast eater in a bowl designed to slow his eating. These have grooves in them so he has to work his tongue to get the food. Then I would leave him out until the other dog finishes. If the slow eater isn't finished pick up the food anyway. Do this at each feeding and hopefully the slow eater will get quicker and the slow feed bowl will slow down Loki. A 9 week old puppy should generally be fed 3 times a day to prevent hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Also, scarfing down food can put a large breed puppy at risk for ingestion of excess air and bloat which can be life threatening. I recommend adding a feeding, perhaps of the same amount as the other two and consulting with your vet re: body condition scoring. If your puppy currently has a low body condition score (google body conditon scoring dogs for a diagram), continue with the extra feeding until Luke is at an ideal body condition (noticeable waist but ribs/spine not prominent). If rapid eating persists, purchasing a puzzle feeder to slow down feedings (available on Amazon.com) is recommended. Good luck!

There are only two ways you can control this. The first is to separate them during feeding times, offer multiple feeding times in a day and not to leave food down to free feed. The second option is to purchase one of the specialized automatic feeders with the individual collars. Each cat will wear it’s own special collar and when it approaches the feeder, the feeder will read the collar and dispense food or not. Best of luck.

Kyro is very handsome! I would feed him according to the package instructions on the bag. He is a puppy and is still growing, so it's not recommended to restrict his food. I would cut of the treats though, including the Milkbone, bully stick, and grain free treats. Treats should only be given occasionally not daily, and too many treats can lead to weight again. As for the roast beef and gravy, he really doesn't need that on his food, he should only be getting dog food. Try gradually cutting back on the amount of roast beef and gravy you add to his food until he is eating the dog food only. I hope this helps!
