My kitten pees on itself. How do I clean its urine-matted fur?

Normally its mommy would clean it. You will need to regularly rinse off the urine and clean it so it does not scald its skin. Rinse it well, dry it well and put some vaseline on the scalded areas. This will protect the skin. It will likely urinate shortly after eating/drinking, so this is when you will need to clean it. At 4 weeks it will likely not yet be able to learn how to go into the litter box.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Poor Pocky! I would be sure he doesn't have fleas or a skin infection. If he does treat the fleas as that will relieve the scratching. If the has red crusty bumps he may have an allergy to the food or environment or a skin infection. If that is the case it is best to see a vet. Yes, this is similar to a diaper rash - where the skin gets irritated by the filth and sometimes infected. The fact that it's not as red anymore is a good sign that it's healing. The hair loss is not too concerning right now, because this will often happen when the old skin and hair grows out after being damaged and new skin and hair is growing in. I am sorry to hear about your kitten! Unfortunately blankets and towels left on the floor are often a favorite place for cats to pee! Since your kitten is young he may be more prone to this as he may not have completely established litter box habits. I would try to be sure no cloth items like this are left on the floor, and if your kitten continues to have accidents then a visit to the vet is needed to ensure he doesn't have a bladder infection or other cause for urinary accidents.
