My cat doesn't groom herself after litter. What should I do?

This is hard to do. He probably never learned to clean himself or he is so disgusted by his own poop that he does not want to clean it up. 1) his box needs to be cleaned everyday 2) you can put some hairball remedy on his paws so he is enticed to clean that off, then put some on his fur further back until you can put it on his bum. He may get the idea. 3) wipe his bum and feet with clean wipes. He apparently also never learned to cover his poop. This unfortunately happens when the kittens are taken away from mommy way too early, as their mom actually teaches them all that.

Cats are very clean animals in general. They clean them themselves for the same reason that they bury their waste in the litter. They are afraid that the smell could alert predators to their presence - this is instinct. Yin may just not have as much of this instinct as the normal cat. If Mila has abnormal stool quality or if she is overweight then it could be a medical issue. Most cats are very clean and groom themselves frequently. However, not all cats are this way and it could be a behavioral thing. If she is overweight then she may not be able to reach to keep clean. It might just be that Lucky is a little off-balance as she is growing. Changing the box type (higher sides, step in, etc) may help position her better, otherwise using a pet wipe to clean her bottom may help. A little added fiber or a daily pet probiotic can help firm up loose stools, however bringing a stool sample into the vet to rule out anything such as parasites or an underlying illness causing it is a good idea. In some cases, even normal stools can sometimes get stuck on long-haired cats. Gently trimming the area to make it less easy for stool to stick, or using a pet wipe after Pockey gets out of the litter box before the stool can dry may help make it easier to clean.
