My two cats fight. How can they coexist with a baby on the way?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I have two cats, 1 male and 1 female. I have had the female for 4 years since she was a kitten and I have had the male for 1 year since he was 8 months. They do not get along no matter what I try. We have a baby on the way and need find a way for them to get along. They fight and I would hate to re-home anyone.

Sometimes despite best efforts cats never get along. Often they can coexist if you set up individual habitats for them equipped with seperately feeding bowls and litter trays, so they can choose to be apart. Things like pheromone diffusers can also help. Unfortunately there is no way to force them to be friends.
