My cat's yellow teeth are bleeding. Does he need a dental cleaning?

She will need to see her veterinarian to be anesthetized for a dental cleaning. There is most likely an infection in her mouth that is painful to her. Poor Smokey! Have him seen by a vet. He needs a dental cleaning, scaling, and polishing, and the vet can check to see if there are any more loose teeth that need to come out. I’d call his vet this weekend to make him an appointment. I hope this helps.

It is not unusual for cat's teeth to have a yellow tone to them. They don't have a significant amount of tartar build up (very dark yellow to brown/grey in color); they look very clean. It may be a resorptive lesion on the tooth. This is an indicator of dental disease. They can be painful, so a visit to your veterinarian would be recommended. This looks like quite a bit of tartar and calculus buildup. You will likely be more successful at preventing significant dental disease by having a professional dental cleaning done. Once all the calculus and tartar built up are removed it'll be easier to maintain a clean mouth.

I would have Mila seen by a vet for this tooth. If it's bleeding, then she may be suffering from severe gingivitis, or she could have damaged her tooth leading to the bleeding. This tooth should be examined and cleaned under sedation, which the vet can perform. I would have Mila seen by a vet tomorrow.

That looks like pretty painful gingivitis. There also may be some lesions on the neck of the canine tooth (FORL). Your vet will inspect the whole mouth and may suggest a tooth cleaning under anesthesia where the teeth are also cleaned underneath the gingiva. Unfortunately the teeth can look very clean, but underneath the gingiva bacteria congregate and cause tooth decay, inflammation, and, in serious cases, heart and kidney disease, This is not an emergency, but should be addressed soon.
