My cat has a white ear growth. Is it a skin tag? Should I see a vet?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Holly. It may be a wart or skin tag, but also has the appearance of a tick. This would be more likey if she spends time outdoors. It would be worth having her evaluated by her veterinarian. It does not appear to be an abscess though. This would present as a swelling under the skin and would make her feel ill. These generally are find to just keep an eye on but if you would like it gone, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the mass and discuss options for removal. This one does not look like a typical benign and harmless ski tag (still could be !), so please take Fluffington to your local vets for an appointment. Your vet may recommend to treat it with anti-inflammatory cream or to aspirate it with a needle to find out what type of growth this is.

There can be multiple causes for a small bump on the tip of a cat's ear, such as a cyst, focal infection, small growth, or another underlying medical cause. It is difficult to advise you further about Timon without being able to see what you are, but if you are concerned or if this developed quickly I would recommend having him evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine what may be going on, and if any treatment is needed at this time. A picture may be helpful. If its not bleeding or bothering him, it is not an emergency. However, I would recommend that you get it checked out, as it may be a tumor. Ouch! That unfortunately should be checked out by a vet in person, especially if it's growing in size and looking more inflamed than usual, as this could indicate something such as an infection or growth that requires treatment. Typically, a vet will be able to take a sample of the area to determine the exact cells present and what treatment is needed. Until you can get to the vet, placing an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Sebastian may help keep him from rubbing or pawing at it to help it heal. Keeping the area clean and dry may also help. Hi there, Emmie could just have a benign skin tag, but any lump should be checked with fine needle aspirate (small poke into the bump to collect cells which then get checked on microscope).
