My cat has a white soft lump near her ear. Should I see a vet?

This definitely could be a skin tag and nothing to worry about, but since it is new, I would have your vet take a look at it once to ensure it doesn’t need to be removed. There are other types of skin masses that can look similar to skin tags but are actually cancerous so it is always better to just have someone confirm. I hope this helps!

This lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Snowball to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

Judging from your description and the fact that she is an outdoor cat, I would suspect what you are seeing is an abscess. I would recommend getting her to a vet if possible to have the lump examined so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It looks like a little wart or less likely a skin cyst. These are quite harmless and go away on their own. If it grows, changes colors or starts to bother Wendyl, then you should take her to the vet to get it checked out. They can take it off easily and send it to the lab for positive identification if needed.

I would be very suspicious of an abscess. This is not a common area for a hematoma, although it could be possible. There is also a possibility for it being an enlarged lymph node. I would recommend that you have a vet check out this new lump. If it is an abscess, then Portia should have it lanced and drained and get systemic antibiotics to help it heal. If it ruptures on its own, it can cause more damage than if it were lanced. If the polyps haven't been surgically removed (and even if they are removed, they can grow back) then antibiotics won't cure the problem, unfortunately. Polyps are so frustrating, and I am so sorry that Portia has them!

That unfortunately should be checked out by a vet in person, especially if it's growing in size and looking more inflamed than usual, as this could indicate something such as an infection or growth that requires treatment. Typically, a vet will be able to take a sample of the area to determine the exact cells present and what treatment is needed. Until you can get to the vet, placing an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Sebastian may help keep him from rubbing or pawing at it to help it heal. Keeping the area clean and dry may also help. Please understand that it's impossible to say what this lesion is with 100% certainty without examining cells from this lesion microscopically. With that said, Tigra's lesion looks as though it could be a cyst. Most cysts are benign lesions. Many rupture and some refill at a later date, but they won't go away completely on their own. It would be best to have Tigra examined by her vet within the next month or so, or sooner if it's changing dramatically or bothering her. Until her appointment, keep a close eye on it for changes, but don't worry about applying any topical medications.
