My cat won't eat, use litter box, waddles, and has irritated anus.

Hello. With Ginger vomiting, I would be very concerned that she may have a blockage in her upper small intestines where an enema will never reach. After 24 hours, it is now time to seek veterinary attention. Poor Ginger will continue to deteriorate due to dehydration & loss of electrolytes. Often, just with the use of IV fluid therapy & the judicious use of laxatives & motility modifying medications, a blockage can sometimes resolve on its own in the hospital. Otherwise, this may require surgery if there is a firm, non-moving obstruction. Please have Ginger evaluated as soon as possible to hopefully get her back to normal quickly. Misha should be physically examined by your veterinarian to diagnose or rule out constipation, obstruction or a rectal prolapse. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites which can lead to diarrhea and potential prolapse from straining. If she is constipated, your vet may need to sedate her and manually empty her out. IV or subcutaneous fluids may be necessary to correct dehydration which can be a contributing factor. An obstruction, if diagnosed, may require surgery to correct.

Constipation in cats can definitely cause SIGNIFICANT irritability. Depending on the level of constipation it can be extremely uncomfortable and painful. If you seen your cat straining near the litter box or outside, I can assure you that she is in some level of pain. While vegetables and fibrous products can certain ease constipation at times, it also has the potential of making matters worse. She already may have a clogged up intestinal tract and by feeding her, we may just be creating more of a back up. It sounds like you may have gotten some of the feces out, but there could be quite a bit left in there. If you can get to the vet, I would recommend this as a first choice. They will be able to palpate the abdomen as well as shoot an x-ray to determine the magnitude of constipation (if that is in fact the issue). If they feel it is necessary, they can perform warm soap/water/lube rectal enemas in order to loosen the bowel contents. While this is something that can be done at home on the most well-behaved cats, it does not sound like Coca currently falls in that category! If you do not feel going to the vet is an option, certain stool softeners can be used that can be picked up at a local pharmacy such as duralax or miralax.

Hi there. Poor Mittens! Unfortunately with her history I would highly recommend having her seen as soon as possible-she could be blocked (it actually sounds like she is). It is possible she could pass it with laxatives and iv fluids without surgery (your vet would have to do x rays to determine this). The sooner she gets checked out the better if it's already been a while. I hope all goes well and my best to you both!

I'm so sorry to hear that Miss Kitty is not feeling well. Ideally Miss Kitty should be seen by a veterinarian for diagnostics and/or supportive care. When cats stop eating it is usually a sign that they are very ill. If Miss Kitty is not urinating/defecting at all that is also very concerning and should be further investigated by a veterinarian. She could be experiencing illness related to her kidney's, which is very common in cats. The most important thing is Miss Kitty's comfort and quality of life. I think having her examined by a veterinarian will answer those questions and help you make the best decisions for Miss Kitty moving forward. In the interim you can try to get Miss Kitty to eat something. At this point she can have anything that she is willing to eat (i.e. chicken, tuna, any canned wet food). Usually the smellier the food the more enticing it is for cats. Some other tricks are to offer warmed up a canned food or offering baby food. You just want to make sure the food is not piping hot and just warm. If you offer baby food be sure that the flavor you get does not have onions in it. Hopefully this helps and I hope Miss Kitty feels better soon.

It sounds very likely that Tink could be constipated.
