My cat is vomiting and has yellow discharge. ER or wait until morning?

I'm sorry to hear that Einstein isn't feeling well this morning. If he continues to hide for more than another hour or two or if he has more vomiting or diarrhea, he will need to be seen by his veterinarian. Being a bit of an older cat, you will want to sure he doesn't have any underlying disease that is causing his signs. Vomiting and diarrhea can be the result of a simple GI upset or it can indicate pancreatitis, thyroid disease, kidney disease or more chronic intestinal problems. I hope this information helps. Poor guy. If he has vomited more than a few times within an hour and seems unstable (lethargic, weak, non-responsive), then this is considered an emergency and he should go to any available vet or ER vet today. However, if he is still active, nice pink gums, and responsive, you can monitor him to see if the vomiting subsides. You should also fast him (not food, only water) for at least 12 hrs, then try offering him a bland diet of tuna and white rice or lean ground turkey and white rice to see if you can help settle his stomach. It sounds as your cat is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

These are symptoms of a potential toxin ingestion. I would highly recommend taking Solls to your local vet clinic right away for bloodwork analysis and potential fluid therapy to flush out his system as well as symptomatic treatment (i.e. anti-vomit medication). Hello, sorry to hear about Cheeto. I would watch him for continued episodes of vomiting or if he develops any lethargy, decreased appetite or diarrhea. Things we worry about with sudden onset or persistent vomiting in cats include dietary indiscretions, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), ingestion of foreign material, obstruction or a mass which is probably the least likely in a young cat. If his vomiting persists or gets worse overnight, or if he develops any other signs then I would definitely bring him to an emergency clinic. You should not attempt to feed him today and then offer boiled chicken and rice tomorrow in the morning. Hope this helps and best of luck.

It could be from an upset stomach, and I can give you a home remedy for him to see if that helps. Withhold food tonight, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. It's good that Casper has an appointment tomorrow. I wouldn't consider it an emergency based on the info you provided. When I would consider it an emergency is if he becomes very lethargic, isn't interested in food at all, or if there is blood in the vomitus.
