Is my cat's vomiting and not eating due to severe constipation?

Cats often are not constipated but are having diarrhea. With her age I would be concerned about a disease causing a decreased appetite. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian for blood work and possible x-rays. At this age kidney disease, cancer and hyperthyroidism are very common. Also bad dental disease can cause a change in appetite. She most likely has an underlying disease that is causing her these secondary issues. I do not think changing her diet will be enough to make her feel better. A veterinarian visit is best. Hope she feels better soon

Without examining Ace it would be hard to determine what is going on, however if you feel that the exam was poor, additional testing such as bloodwork to check kidney values, or an X-ray to see what's going on inside can help give you and your vet more information. Gum disease can cause pain and may cause problems with eating and drinking, and kidney issues can also cause vomiting and changes to bowel habits, so it is possible. Continuing with your vet's prescribed treatment plan may help to get Ace feeling better. If he does not improve, worsens, or you see new symptoms appear it is best to let the vet that examined him know so that they can make adjustments to his treatment plan and get him feeling better.

If he is still vomiting then he needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. If he is constipated, he may need an enema and medication to help soften his stool. He might also need an anti-vomiting medication.

I hate to hear this is happening to Murcis. Situations like this are tough because no test is pointing towards to cause for the illness. I recommend to speak with your veterinarian about a prokinetic drug to help rule out any ileus that gut may be experiencing. This may be temporary if it is related to an underlying condition or permanent it could be the cause of these symptoms. The ultrasound may have given some clues to the gut motility so ask about that as well. I also recommend to discuss a food trial with a hydrolyzed protein diet and possibly even a course of steroids in case this is inflammatory bowel disease. It is extremely important to assure that he is urinating normally without straining because urinary obstructions are a life-threatening situation that require emergency veterinary attention. If Eddie is urinating appropriately and does not have a bowel movement at home tonight, you should take him to the vet in the morning. The vet will be able to examine him and may need to take abdominal x-rays to determine the degree of constipation or stool impaction. I would make it a point to take Rron to the vet right away. These are concerning symptoms indeed. If he is constipated or even obstipated (unable to defecate) then they will need to place a rectal enema (sometimes under a mild sedative) to evacuate out his colon.

I'm sorry to hear Mau Mau is eating inappropriate things. I would be concerned that eating litter could be contributing to his constipation. Often cats that eat or lick inappropriate things can have an underlying condition, such as anemia, or even their diet is lacking in enough calories. I would recommend you take Mau Mau to your vet and consider doing some blood work to look for anemia or another disease process going on. He may need a diet change and potentially medication to help with the constipation. I hope he improves quickly and this behavior stops soon!
