My cat vomited days after eating chocolate. Is it chocolate poisoning?

Sounds like he is getting better and if he was going to have more problems with the chocolate ingestion, it would have occurred shortly after the exposure. If the problem continues, call your veterinarian and follow their recommendation. I hope Demon gets better soon.

A tiny nibble of chocolate cake would not be enough for a kitten that size to get chocolate toxicity. However, it's a good idea to keep an eye out for signs of toxicity just in-case she ate more than I am considering. Vomiting is usually the first sign that there is a problem. Chocolate toxicity can also cause nervousness, tremors and seizures as the toxin progresses. If you notice this, then it's best to take Yang to the vet immediately for treatment. Depending on when Gigi ate the chocolate and how many ounces of chocolate she ate relative to her weight can determine the likelihood of developing any toxicity. The first signs of toxicity include vomiting/diarrhea, if a large amount was ingested symptoms can progressive to anxiety, tremoring, or seizures. For a small dog like Gigi, even a small amount like 4-5 chunks, could lead to severe side effects. I contacting ASPCA Poison Control who can provide more guided information regarding the dose that Gigi ingested and make recommendations for treatment/veterinary care. There is a fee for their service. Alternatively, you could have Gigi seen by your veterinarian so that they can examine her and determine the need for additional treatments. If he vomited and then ate afterwards and seems normal now then he should be fine. Cats are poisoned much less than dogs since they generally only taste bad things rather than eating a large amount. Please keep an eye on him and bring him in for an exam if he continues to vomit or shows abnormal other signs. Hi there! A few crumbs of milk chocolate probably will not harm your cat. If she got a decent bit, she might have some diarrhea, but I highly doubt this will happen if it was only chocolate residue. Feel free to call your vet if you have concerns, but I think your kitty will be just fine! :)

I am sorry Chico is sick. Chocolate at high doses can cause sever gastric upset. I am concerned that the continued vomiting will cause dehydration and issues with kidney function. I would recommend taking Chico to the vet for medications to stop the vomiting and rehydrate him. Also I would start an over the counter anti acid to help calm down his stomach. You can try a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice once his vomiting has stopped. I hope that helps and Chico feels better soon

Your kitty should be just fine! You are a great pet parent to be worried, but there is not that much chocolate in that type of cocoa. He could have loose stool from the sugar and milk, but that's it. If they have a lot of actual cocoa or chocolate, the symptoms come on pretty quickly... like minutes to an hour. Your kitty should be ok.
