My cat licked peppermint oil, vomited. Could he still be poisoned?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My cat just licked up a small drop of peppermint oil - about 15 minutes later he vomited, then came upstairs and ate all his breakfast. He’s acting totally normal- if he was poisoned would he be displaying symptoms already? This happened about 45 minutes ago. I feel like he’s okay but could he still be in danger?

If he vomited and then ate afterwards and seems normal now then he should be fine. Cats are poisoned much less than dogs since they generally only taste bad things rather than eating a large amount. Please keep an eye on him and bring him in for an exam if he continues to vomit or shows abnormal other signs.
