Cat vomited hairball after dewormer. Should I give another pill?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. As long as the worming tablet was in for about 30min then you don't need to give a second tablet. However a 2nd tablet, as long as it is one designed for cats, won't cause a problem. They have very high safety margins. Best of luck with your kittens!

If he vomited within 2 hours, I would recommend calling your vet to let them know and picking up a second dose to repeat the treatment. It likely didn't have enough time to absorb in to Allyson's system.

If your dog vomited more than an hour after the medication was given it is probably OK and in his system. However, if the dog vomited before an hour had passed then you will need to redose your dog with another round of dewormer. This medication is very safe and redosing should not cause a problem. Poor Timmy! If he also vomited up the tablet, you will have to give him an additional deworming treatment. I would wait until tomorrow to give him another one, and give it to him with some food, such as boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin). Tapeworms can travel into the cat's stomach, which is why you would have seen him vomit one. It sounds like he has a heavy burden of worms. He will likely need another treatment with the deworming tablet three weeks after first deworming treatment (the ones that stays down and isn't vomited up) to kill all the worms. I hope this helps.

Sometimes the worms die and just come out like mucus in the stool, not full worms. If you gave the proper dose I’m sure it was effective. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Parasites is certainly a good reason for diarrhea. I highly recommend you go in for that second appointment to get the dewormer. The reason is most of the time, it is needed to follow up on the initial deworming dose to be actually effective for most parasites. Good luck and have a great day!
