My cat vomited foam after too much IV fluid. What should I do now?

Hello. I would stop all milk. Your cat may have developed an intolerance to milk. Offer plenty of fresh water, & low salt broths made from chicken or beef. If he continues to vomit, he may need to see a veterinarian to rule out parasites or other causes of intestinal disease that is making him unwell. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Pinkie! Pinkie needs to see a Vet. There is likely an open Emergency hospital in your area. Your Vet, if you call them, should have an answering machine providing emergency clinic numbers. I wouldn't be too sure they are closed Monday. My hospital is open. Causes of vomiting are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, foreign body, dietary indiscretion, toxin ingestion, kidney or liver problems, food allergy/intolerance, coughing from asthma. This does appear like blood, but I would first want to know if he/she ate anything that was red colored. If she/he did eat something red colored within the past three hours, then I'd assume this is causing this appearance. If not, then it's likely blood, which indicates an esophageal or gastric ulcer. Bleeding from these locations can be dangerous, because they can lose a significant amount of blood in the stomach and intestines. For this reason, we consider this an emergency and recommend a visit to the vet as soon as possible for an accurate diagnosis and treatment. It's not possible to say exactly what is causing this, as there are a few different possibilities. One possibility is that your cat ate something they were not supposed to like medication, a chemical (i.e. antifreeze), or a plant (i.e. lilies). Vomiting is often the first signs of an exposure to a toxin, so I recommend checking if it's possible for your cat to have eaten anything other than the normal diet. Vomiting and nausea can also be due to an infectious disease, organ failure, or imbalance in the blood. In order to narrow down the possibilities, you would have to take your cat to the vet for an evaluation. Unfortunately, some antibiotics can cause GI upset (vomiting and/or diarrhea). Since Snow is a kitten, we certainly worry more about her vomiting and getting dehydrated. Since it's too late to contact your vet tonight, I would try to offer Snow a small amount of water overnight and see if she is able to keep that down. If she does not want to drink water, you can try a small amount of a low sodium chicken broth or the water (not oil) that canned tuna or salmon is packed in. I would recommend contacting your vet in the morning to get their recommendation from there. If Snow continues to vomit, she will certainly need to be seen by your vet for some medication. Good luck! Unfortunately the only thing you can do is keep Cali quiet and warm, and get her into a vet asap. I would be very concerned based on your description of her symptoms that she has a pyometra. A pyometra is a life threatening infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. If she does in fact have a pyometra, she needs to see a vet now. I would call around to see if you can find an ER clinic to take her into, if there is a vet on call to see her, or get her into a vet clinic as soon as they open. I hope this helps!

As a first approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken/white fish and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
