Kidneys are only rarely damaged by urinary obstruction but if there is evidence of issues, a blood test may be required also. What you are describing (hard feces despite drinking and peeing, and drinking a lot of water) can definitely be caused by kidney disease, and that would be the number one concern. Other concerns would be diabetes, hyperthyroidism, megacolon, or possibly cancer. In terms of your medications comment, all medications have different times for how long they take to kick in, and how long they last. This can be changed based on hydration, age, kidney and liver function, and overall health status. It sounds like Jay might need to see a vet, based on your questions. Best of luck with Jay!

Poor girl. It sounds very likely Lola has an internal problem causing her to have an accident outside the box as well as a decrease in her appetite. This could very well be constipation, since constipated cats will strain and can often-times get nausea causing them to eat less or even vomit sometimes. I would highly recommend getting her seen by your vet soon to have her fully evaluated via physical exam to see if constipation is the underlying cause for her illness. If it is, then the vet will likely get her on a stool softener and recommend fluids to hydrate her. I hope that Lola's condition improves soon! Best of luck and take care.

It sounds as though Lil Man may be struggling to defecate and this may be causing him discomfort. I would recommend adding in Feline Laxatone and see if this helps normalize his bowel movements. With his age, if he hasn't had a veterinarian examine him in a while or have his blood tested, I would strongly recommend that you have this done in case there is something else going on systemically that is causing these symptoms. Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am sorry to hear Mojo has been having some health issues recently. Kidney disease can often cause nausea and vomiting. Breathing trouble could be caused by a virus, bacterial infection or something more serous such as pneumonia, fluid in the chest, or lung cancers. Yowling at night or in the early morning could be a sign of dementia which typically happens in older pets. A veterinary check up would be recommended just to check his blood work and do a chest x-ray to see what is going on with his lungs. Anti-nausea medications can be prescribed to help control his vomiting. Sometimes certain medications can be prescribed for dementia as well, however, calming chews or Feliway plug ins/spray you can find over the counter at your pet store may help with night time disturbances as well.

If Anano is in pain I recommend an emergency visit. If not then tomorrow morning I would call your veterinarian to make sure we are not constipated. If Anano is they can prescribe medication to help draw water into his colon. He may need medication daily now to help him pass stool. Some owners see a cat struggling in the litter box and they assume constipation but it is usually a urinary problem. With her having a recent problem with her urinary tract/bladder I would assume this is a continuation of the problem. I suggest you get a second opinion with another vet.
