Why is my cat twitching, licking, and restless after being outside?

Yes I would be concerned, as this can be a sign of flea treatment toxicity. I would put her into a bath immediately, and gently wash the treatment off with water water and Dawn dish soap. Continue to monitor her for signs of toxicity, including vomiting, diarrhea, muscle tremors, hyper salivation, and depression. If you see any of those signs, take her into your vet immediately. I would make sure that the flea treatment you put on Annie was for cats and not for dogs, as it's very important to have a cat dose for cats because they are so sensitive to the flea medication. I wouldn't have a concern about Advantage for felines, especially if Cheeto has had it before. Weight loss will allow him to adequately clean that area and in the mean time, shampooing the area every 4-5 days or using a dry shampoo and a brush every 3-4 days will help to decrease the oil production and decrease itchiness. Continue using a fish oil though I prefer an omega 3 fatty acids supplement. Changing the food to Royal Canin may also help improve the skin quality. You did the right thing by bathing him to remove as much of the medication as possible. However, since he is still twitching and irritable, Simba should go to his vet for evaluation. There are muscle relaxers that can help with the twitching and steroids if an allergic or inflammatory reaction is diagnosed, both of which will likely make him far more comfortable. Is he on flea prevention? If not, fleas can cause over grooming and acting strangely. Every cat that goes outdoors no matter where you live should be on flea prevention. If you want him to stay inside more I suggest you make inside more inviting and comfortable for him. I recommend you put some Feliway diffusers in your house and do some environmental enrichment for him. Feliway is basically "happy cat" pheromones and makes them calm and reduces stress indoors.
