My cat plays a lot. Is too much playtime normal or unhealthy?

Every cat has their own personality, similar to every human is an individual. Some have higher energy than others. There are many cats that don't like to be petted at all! Sleeping more than normal for more than one day is not normal. Sometimes a cat may sleep more after a busy night out. However if this lasts through the weekend or if your cat stops eating or appears lethargic, you should take her to your vet on Monday for an exam and possibly a blood test.

If playing like this is periodic and not all the time, it is completely normal kitten behavior. they get excited and pounce and attack imaginary things. If she's alone during the day she probably has excess energy. I do not think this is a medical problem. Try having her play with a laser pointer, throw toys or treats for her to chase and try to get her to exercise earlier in the day. As she ages she will outgrow this behavior. Cats often sleep all day then are active at night. Don't try to catch her or control her as when they are like this she may scratch or bite. Doing so will help to decrease the potential development for destructive or inappropriate behaviors, such as inappropriate scratching, aggressiveness, inappropriate litterbox habits. That is a good question and probably has more to do with each cat’s individual personalities then a black or white answer . If you have a normally very playful young cat she will probably continue to play some even while she is in heat.
