Why is my kitten playing with invisible toys? Should I worry?

If she's alone during the day she probably has excess energy. I do not think this is a medical problem. Try having her play with a laser pointer, throw toys or treats for her to chase and try to get her to exercise earlier in the day. As she ages she will outgrow this behavior. Cats often sleep all day then are active at night. Don't try to catch her or control her as when they are like this she may scratch or bite. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. This can be normal for long-haired kittens. As she grows and gets her adult coat, it will start looking less silly. Playful biting is also normal for kittens. I recommend getting her a toy or two that is appropriate for her to bite and claw at. This will decrease anxiety, decrease biting at you, and strengthen your bond with each other. Best of luck to you and Jandi!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The opening or kneading of the claws when happy or being pet is normal in cats. It DOES hurt if their claws are on your leg. Keep the nails short. You probably are not going to be able to teach him not to do something that is instinctual. If he starts to bite you then stop petting him and watch for clues from him that he has had enough petting: ears turning back, turning to look at your hand, tail flicking and stop touching him before he goes to bite. Try not to yell no at him if that triggers biting. Kittens are full of energy and they grow out of it eventually. Provide lots of toys and play time. Soon enough he will be a sleepy adult cat and you'll miss the hyper kitten! Have a good day!

This behaviour could be due to fever, pain, intestinal worms and more. Please de-worm your kittens if they have not been dewormed in the last few days. If it does not make any difference, please take him to your local vets for an appointment.

Hello. While I do not know if there is anything wrong with your cat, it is refreshing to get a request about a healthy one. Georgie is still a very young cat, & perhaps she is sensing something in her environment that just turns her on. Plenty of plants are blooming, so she may be getting a whiff of something like catmint ( similar to catnip ) or she is aware of other cats in the vicinity. It is hard to tell. But there are no diseases or conditions that would be worrisome in a cat this young.
