My cat keeps throwing up food and acting depressed. What to do?

Vomiting can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Maxey evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid he is likely becoming dehydrated which could be why he is not as energetic. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check his hydration status and give him medications to make him feel better. Good luck!

I would definitely keep an eye on him, and if he vomits again or doesn't want to eat still, schedule a vet appointment. Issues such as minor GI upset, underlying illness, hairballs or obstructions, parasites, etc can all be possible causes of vomiting, which is why it's important to have it checked out if it continues more than once. If Lando seems in any obvious distress or pain (vocalizing, pacing, attempting to go potty but can't, tender to touch, etc), then he should be seen sooner.

It sounds as Lala is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Hi. Unfortunately, there are many possibilities let causes of vomiting and not eating. This can range from something they ate upsetting the tummy, toxins, parasites, or even a foreign object in the GI tract that he swollen that could be stuck. The last one we get very suspicious of in young kitties. I would highly recommend getting Bart in to the ER this evening.

Hello, sorry to hear about Mallomar. I would be concerned that he could have an upset GI tract. Causes for these signs in a cat his age could include inflammation of the GI tract, a dietary indiscretion (getting into something he wasn't supposed to), or even ingesting a foreign object. You can fast him for the rest of the morning and afternoon, then offer a small amount of food tonight, a bland diet of plain white rice, skinless and boneless chicken, and low fat cottage cheese would work. If his vomiting persists, if he gets lethargic, or if he loses appetite, then I would recommend having him evaluated by his primary care veterinarian. He would likely need bloodwork and some x-rays of his abdomen to confirm he does not have a foreign object or any other underlying systemic diseases (kidney diseased, liver diseases, pancreatitis, etc) which can also present with vomiting signs. The most common reason for symptoms you are describing in a young cat is an intestinal obstruction. Young cats often eat things they shouldn't (like hair ties, rubber door stop ends, strings, etc).
