My cat's third eyelid is showing. Should I get a second vet opinion?

That could be Bailey's third eyelid, which is a normal part of the dog's eye anatomy. But it should not be out when the dog's eye is open, which indicates a problem. I'd have her seen by a vet for this.

This sign could be sometimes related to a systemic illness or gastrointestinal disease. More rarely eyes problems are present. I would recommend to monitor him at this stage and if there are no other signs I would agree with what your vet suggested.

I am sorry to hear that but it is good that you tried to get Cookies some help! Elevated third eyelids can be caused by many different things including eye problems/irritation, respiratory infections, and a general feeling of being unwell. If the previous medicine did not help, I am sure your vet will want to see him again. I would want to know what his temperature was, how his eyes looked on exam and see if they recommend bloodwork, x-rays or further treatment (such as antibiotics or pain medicine). I would have Bailey seen by another vet for a second opinion. Without seeing him in person, there's no way I can say if this growth can be removed or not, or if it is cancerous or not. One way to diagnose a growth as cancerous is a test called a fine needle aspirate. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. This would be useful to have done as whether or not the growth is malignant will inform treatment options for Bailey. I'd recommend taking him to another vet sometime this week. I hope this helps!

It would be best to have Bailey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Vomiting can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Google evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check her hydration status and give her medications to make her feel better. Good luck!

This can indicate a few things such as something called Horner's Syndrome, Haws Syndrome, or some type of injury to the eye or eyelids. It's not likely Horner's because that is usually one eye and is a neurological disorder of the eye and facial muscles. Haw's syndrome is more likely since it's both eyes. This is an odd syndrome of elevated third eyelids and often times diarrhea. Some people suspect tapeworm infestation or a viral cause for this syndrome. It's usually not treated and is most times self limiting and will resolve. Eye and eyelid injuries are often again only one eye but could less commonly be both eyes. If you don't notice any discharge, rubbing of the eyes, redness of the eyes, or pain I would just advise monitoring the situation. I did notice that her left third eyelid and eye looked redder than the right which could mean that she does have something going on with that eye, such as conjunctivitis. I would advise seeing your veterinarian and let them evaluate her. They can take a detailed history and perform a thorough examination. Once those are done, your vet can advise you on a diagnostic/treatment plan based on their clinical findings. Possible tests include a corneal stain, conjunctival scrape, etc. Conjunctivitis is commonly viral and/or bacterial in nature in young kittens. Also, your vet can advise you on a good preventive health care program for Scarlett. Good question. I hope this just resolves on it's own like most cases do.
