My cat has labored breathing. Is tea tree oil safe to use on her?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am so sorry! Poor Munchie! Flusapex is lasix, which is a diuretic used for heart failure. If she was given 0.30 mls that is an appropriate dose. My assumption is that the Vet though Munchie was in heart failure. Trouble breathing is serious and the only thing I could think of that could have been done differently is that Munchie should have been admitted and hospitalized for oxygen therapy and monitoring. But if her heart failure was severe the outcome may still have been the same. Again I am very sorry for your loss, Munchie sounded like she was very sick! I hope this helps in some way.

I recommend you have your cat seen by a veterinarian immediately if she is having trouble breathing/irregular breathing. She may be dealing with allergies, asthma, or even heart disease, which is often very difficult to detect in cats until it becomes an emergency situation such as this. It's better to be safe than sorry, so I recommend you have her examined by a vet right away. I do not recommend you giving 2cute the ZydaClin you have from your other cat's dental issue, as misuse of antibiotics can lead to resistant bacteria. Without further testing, there is no way to tell if what you are concerned is a tumour is due to infection, trauma or allergy, or if it is a mass. Masses can be of a malignant (cancerous) type that can spread elsewhere and/ or invade the healthy tissue around them, or a more benign (noncancerous) type that is unlikely to spread. Cancerous types of masses are less common than benign ones, but I recommend having 2cute seen by a vet to have the growth tested and to guide treatment.

I do see pleural effusion (fluid) on the X-ray but I would also suspect a mass, which is likely the cause of the fluid. That could be why your Vet couldn't get any. Most of the white on the X-ray is likely the mass and only a small amount of fluid. I wish you the best!

I'm sorry to hear that Mittens has not been doing well. I agree that Mittens' chest x-rays appear to be progressing over the past 2 weeks. At this point, either pneumonia is less likely or the bacteria causing a possible pneumonia are resistant to her current antibiotic therapy. Cancer is absolutely a suspicion due to the x-ray progression. Consider asking your vets if they have considered performing either endotracheal or transtracheal washes on Mittens, which would be able to obtain a sample of fluid or cells in the lungs. These samples could be analyzed for cytology (which may be able to diagnose cancer) or culture (to determine if bacteria is present and an appropriate antibiotic). There is a chance that Mittens may not be stable enough to undergo sedation for this procedure, but your vets will be able to examine her to determine if the risks are worth the benefits. I hope that all goes well!

I am so sorry about the loss of Honey, Linda. It is always devastating to lose a beloved pet. Without seeing her in person, I cannot say for certain, but if she was in a coma, then I would suspect she didn't feel anything. Please look after yourself and take the time to grieve her passing. I am very sorry for your loss. Fleas drink blood. It is possible if your cat had a lot of fleas that it made him anemic which can be fatal. However fleas carry diseases too which can make them sick. I do not think you using an all natural flea prevention caused snowy harm

A vet may recommend euthanasia, but no vet will euthanize Mecia without your consent.
