Cat suddenly squeaking high-pitched but seems fine. Vet visit needed?

It may be that he is painful or not feeling well and that's leading to him reacting in this way. Ideally, take him to your vet for an exam. However, if he is eating/drinking/acting normally it is reasonable to just keep a close eye on him and take him in if other symptoms develop. Make sure that his litter box habits are normal. (he is urinating and defecating normally). Please do not give him any over the counter pain medications as there are none available that are safe for cats. Vomiting and increased vocalizations can sometimes indicate pain or distress. This could be due to GI upset, underlying illness, etc. If the symptoms continue, worsen, or you see additional issues such as increased vomiting, attempting to urinate or defecate but can't, loss of appetite, etc, then it would be best to seek veterinary care ASAP to find the underlying issue.

I would be worried because Squeaky is clearly in pain, and he could have internal injuries. Unfortunately you cannot give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. He really should see a vet first thing in the morning. Yes, I would be concerned in that this squealing could mean it hurts Sam to jump off the couch or bed, or when he's trying to jump on something. I would have him seen by a vet for this, as it's important to diagnose if he is in pain and what's causing it so he can be treated. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. The vet can prescribe him safe pain medication if needed. Until he sees the vet, rest him and do not allow him to jump on or off the furniture.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I suspect Seuss has a scratch or wound to the throat from eating and vomiting the bones. That will often stop cats from meowing and purring. If his is fine in himself, you should just monitor him for a few days at home. He should be back to normal after the weekend, but if you notice signs of gagging, retching or lack of appetite, you should get him checked by your local vets.

Poor Guy! He certainly could be in pain or not feeling well. I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to see if he has a fever, pain anywhere, and even run blood work if needed. A lot of outdoor cats will get into things they shouldnt and also can get into fights with other cats or animals and develop abscesses that can be difficult for you to see. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
