Sounds like your cat was very hungry. Maybe you are not feeding it adequately so it will scarf whatever it can. Best feed her a good quality brand name wet food, approx. 5 to 6 oz split into two feeds per day.

Hello, sorry to hear about Sass. Some cats unfortunately prefer to eat the dry food over wet food and vice versa. A few things you can try is to mix the wet and dry food together. You can also wet down her dry food to increase the amount of water consumed. Ultimately, there is nothing wrong with eating dry food alone but ideally they should eat both. It appears that Smokey is eating because he is bored. You should feed him twice or three times daily. If you feed dry food , take the daily ration and split it into two or three feeds and feed only that. You can also feed canned food, and split his daily canned food ration in two to three feeds. If you do not do this he will get fat and will likely end up as a diabetic cat when older. Be firm, do not feed him when he begs for food and only feed him his daily ration at the feeding times.

The best plan would be to weigh your cat and use the info on the packets to work out her daily intake if she was on just try or just wet food. If you give her half of the wet amount and half of the dry it will work out as a daily ration. I would leave the dry out for her then feed the wet nice and fresh once or twice a day.

Kittens will try to sniff food to see if it is appetizing to them, and will try to eat it if it smells good. You may not be feeding her enough, and I would check the instructions on her food to make sure that she is getting the recommended daily allowance. It is not advisable to feed her human food, as there are many that are toxic to cats. I would try to keep her from eating your food, and increase her food as needed.

Why is my older cat suddenly so hungry and always wanting more food?

There are two very common health issues in older cats that are known for causing a sudden increase in appetite like this: hyperthyroidism, and diabetes. I would definitely recommend taking Lucy to the vet for a check-up when you are able to - he/she can do blood work to check for these problems. If she does have one of these illnesses, they are normally very treatable with medication once a diagnosis is made :)

Is my 4-month-old kitten's wet and dry food feeding schedule okay?

Hello. That actually does not sound too unusual. You can certainly offer her the canned twice daily ( my house kitty gets a spoonful morning & evening ), & then he is free to pick at the dry all day. MOST cats are good at self regulating & will not eat too much to become obese, but this is something to watch for as Aspen grows older.
