Why did my 1.5-year-old Persian cat stop playing after her heat?

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 10.8 lbs

I have a 1.5 year old female persian cat. A couple of months ago she was as playful as can be, running up and down the house with me chasing her. We both loved it! But suddenly she stopped playing completely, like COMPLETELY( not at all!). I tried everything, new toys and what not but she won't even look at them. A couple of days later, her heat cycle started up, and I had her given harmonal injections. She's not yowling anymore but only wants to be outside 24/7. She's still not playing. Help?

First of all, avoid the hormonal injection as it is known to cause cancer! it's normal for a persian cat to stop playing at that age, especially when comming in heat. i would strongly recommend having her spayed ASAP.

That is a good question and probably has more to do with each cat’s individual personalities then a black or white answer . If you have a normally very playful young cat she will probably continue to play some even while she is in heat. Kittens go through different stages where they are more or less active, so it may be that he just doesn’t want to play right now. If he seems very lethargic, if his appetite is decreased, or if you notice changes to his urination or defecation habits I’d recommend having him examined by your veterinarian to rule out a medical problem.

Otherwise, now that she is a mom, she has different priorities and she may not be as affectionate as she once was. If you spay her, and re home her kittens, she might act more like she did before puberty and the pregnancy, but there is no way to know for sure.

Why has my healthy kitten suddenly stopped playing and lost interest?

That is unusual. It may be that he’s just growing out of the playful kitten stage. As long as he’s healthy and you’ve had him examined then I would just give him time. If there is something medically wrong you should see a specific problem if it worsens. He could just be tired or sore if he had a mild injury you didn’t see. Why is my cat aggressive and tired after heat, even with kittens?

She's probably fine but without examining her myself I cannot be sure of that. If you are worried about her you should have her checked out by your vet. As a side note, 11 months old is very young to have had kittens already. When breeding cats it is recommended to wait until they are 18-24 months of age. If she is not a breeding queen I would suggest you have her spayed in order to avoid future aggressive behavior.
