Why does my cat stare at me while I eat? Should I be worried?

Cici is beautiful! What a lovely looking girl. She is likely curious as to what you are up to do, what you are doing, and trying to get attention from you. My cats love to come and watch me when I'm in the bathroom! It's a little bit creepy lol.

It may just be that your cat enjoys your company and feels safe while he eats. If you don't want to be there, you can start feeding him and then taking a step back further away at each meal gradually until he is comfortable eating with you out of the room.

Hello. Having had many, many cats, I can tell you this is probably a sign of affection, or she is trying to tell you to hurry up with dinner. Either way, I would discourage this a bit by just turning your back on her when reaching for her dish. She may not mean to, but she could inadvertently scratch or snag you with a claw. Hello, sorry to hear about Halley. Your kitten may be trying to play with your eye lashes as you blink. The playful activity is normal and she wouldn't understand not to do that. To prevent any injury both to you and your kitten, avoid having her so near your face, or remove her from the scenario when she begins to stare at your eyes. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Cats typically are grazers where they like to eat little bits of food throughout the day instead of one or two bigger meals. Just try not to overfeed her so she doesn't get too heavy. I do think you should have her checked by a vet though because any new behaviors should be checked out to rule out any underlying medical issues. I'm a bit worried about the stumbling......that does not sound normal.

If your cat is otherwise acting normal and eating fine I wouldn’t worry too much about this. Keep an eye on your cat and watch for drooling any swelling or soreness in the mouth or any reluctance to eat. If you notice any of the signs then you may want to have her checked out. Great name! It is true at this age he could be having a growth spurt, but cats also learn very quickly to keep asking for food when they are rewarded! I would make sure his body condition is good (not too fat or too thin), and that he is on a good quality food with enough protein. If that is the case, I would get him on a meal schedule so that he (and you!) are not as tempted to ask for (or give) food when it is not meal time. If he is still staring at you, try playing with him or giving him new cat toys instead of feeding him. I think it is good you are asking this question instead of feeding him more as many of our cats are overweight!! I hope this is helpful!
