My cat sprayed liquid on my bed, but it didn't smell like urine.

This sounds like anal sac fluid. It has a nasty fishy odor. The anal sacs are like scent glands and they discharge fluid occasionally. This is normal although most animals do it when they defecate so it’s not on the bedding. Other than having the anal sac surgically removed, which I do not recommend, there is nothing I know of to prevent this. I recommend placing a towel or small blanket on the bed where she lays so you can wash it often and keep your bed clean. That sounds like anal glands and when pets get surprised, they can express these glands. You may want to wash her rectal area and the underside of her tail to get the fluid off her fur. Please feel free to post any additional questions.

It can leak out when the glands are full or if something scares the cat, they can express them. The anal glands normally are expressed during defecation. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Puku. He may have expressed his anal glands in his sleep. The anal glands are small glands located under the skin on either side of the anus. They express each time the dog defecates to mark its scent. They can occasionally leak at other times releasing a foul smelling brown to gray liquid. Anal glands are scent glands inside the anus that are expressed with defecation. If she was scared suddenly they can accidentally release the anal gland material. The other possibility is that she is starting with diarrhea and some leaked out. Keep an eye on the litter box and see how her stools are. Hi there. I do not think he is marking your bed. When dog's mark their territory usually it is the from of urine and not anal glands. How are you expressing the glands? From the outside of the anus or internally? Are you doing it yourself or do you have a groomer or someone doing it for you? If the glands are not being expressing internally then this may be part of the issue as expressing them externally is often not effective. Also, it sounds like the glands are infected - the "fluid" should be grey and not yellow. So, I recommend you get him to your vet to have the glands expressed (internally) and to get some antibiotics prescribed to clear the infection. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

I'm guessing Good has watery diarrhea, although anal glands could also produce a small amount of bad smelling fluid that could leak from her anus. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian if you aren't sure what this fluid it. If it seems to be diarrhea parasites would be a possible cause. Anal glands can become infected or impacted and produce more fluid than normal.
