Alarming spots on my cat's neck and belly: Is it diet or vet time?

The picture didn’t come across well. That looks like a pretty big lesion. Tiki should visit his veterinarian again who can provide an anti-inflammatory and perhaps antibiotics to help it clear up. If there is a suspicion it’s related to food allergy, check and see if maybe he has gotten some new treats, or food or perhaps gotten some human food that could be sitting off the allergy. Other causes are possible and new allergies can also develop. If he continues to have problems with his skin, you may discuss a food trial with your veterinarian. Those spots on Alu could be several things including allergies, skin mites, flea bites, ringworm (which humans can get) or a bacterial infection. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. Treat for fleas. If he will allow it (and it is safe to do so), you can wash the lesions with soap once a day and rinse well (don't wash his whole body, just those spots). Protect the areas from licking or scratching. If they don't start looking better within about a week or if they get worse, have him examined by the veterinarian who may prescribe medications. Sight unseen, it is hard to say exactly what the cause of the spots are, but I can certainly offer a few possibilities. Red sores and spots can have many causes. Food allergies being one of them! It is possible she was allergic to the food she was eating. If you switched foods and she is now better with no sores or spots any longer, then perhaps a food allergy was the cause. However, there are other causes such as a flea allergy, other environmental allergy, fungal infection (ringworm), bacterial infection. The feline herpes virus causes on and off upper respiratory symptoms like sneezing, coughing, and ocular infections. Sores are not typically caused by the feline herpes virus. If the sores are not getting any better or appear to be getting worse, you may want to take your cat into a veterinarian so she can be properly diagnosed. If the sores looks very red and infected, your vet may prescribe an antibiotic. I hope this has helped and I wish you and your cat the very best!

Those look like pretty inflamed lesions. There are a few things that come to mind. Cats can get an autoimmune condition called eosinophilic granuloma that requires steroids for treatment and maybe antibiotics to control secondary infections. Check the house and make sure there's no possibility should could have touched something very hot or gotten into anything that could cause a chemical burn. Lastly, fleas and ringworm can be brought in on your shoes/clothing although this would be an abnormal presentation. Rarely, pets can get skin cancer that looks similar to this. I recommend to have Shadow checked out by her veterinarian since this is a mystery and she has two lesions. It's better to be safe. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for cats, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesions once a day with a hypoallergenic baby wipe (not her whole body, just the lesions). Also protect the area from trauma by having your kitty wear an elizabethan collar at all times. You can also treat her for fleas. The only OTC I recommend is Frontline. This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you flea Bull regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.

From the picture it looks like Neve may have a skin infection. This could be bacterial or something fungal such as ringworm. I suppose there could be a good connection if she has an allergy to the new food, but that may take a while to sort out. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian soon.
