Why does my cat intensely sniff my clothes and then bite them?

Congratulations on adding Alfredo to your family! Cats can develop all sorts of unusual behavior. Its likely the gentle biting is to get your attention and the dragging around you laundry is likely a play behavior. He probably likes the dirty laundry best because it smells more like you. It's possible he is bored and so is inventing his own games. Try meeting his instinctual needs and providing some new stimulation. Your cat just smells something that you can't and has for one reason or another taken a liking or curiosity to it. I don't think there is any reason to believe it is a mating behavior or because of the weather. Cats can detect small differences in the microenvironment that you and I can't even begin to appreciate. This is why both cats and dog do things that often amaze us.

This is likely behavioral. I would recommend providing her with plenty of toys that will keep her occupied. You can also consider using a bitter spray to apply to the things she chews on most to try and deter her from continuing this behavior. I hope this helps! You may have brought in some smell or odor from another cat or from a dog and it settled on things in your apartment. Also new cleaners can cause this. Check your kitty's eyes, as this could also be behaviour shown when they suddenly go blind (are your kitty's pupils very wide and dark all the time?...if so, she needs to be seen ASAP, as high blood pressure can cause sudden blindness, but is reversible the sooner the kitty is seen,). But in general,sometimes cats sniff everything periodically and it is normal.

Some cats can be "love biters" in which they will gently nibble or chew on you without actually biting or acting in an aggressive manner (and it isn't aggression!) This can be a sign of affection in some cats, and it sounds like your cat may be trying to get your attention for more cuddles and pets! (My cat does this too, especially if I haven't been petting her enough or she wants to snuggle.) If, however, his ears are flat, body stiff, and he's trying to get away when biting, then that is a sign that he may be overstimulated and needs some time to himself.

She is playing. Usually kittens play hunt like that with their siblings or other cats, but since there are no other cats she picks the next best moving thing....you.. Get a fishing toy (stick with a string and a feather on it) or tie a crumpled up piece of paper on a string and play with her. Set aside at least 30 minutes/day for wild playing with your kitty. I am sure this will reduce the the pounce attacks, if not stop them completely. It is all about growing up and learning to be a predator. This has to be practiced (it is an instinct, not a bad habit) and you can support that. So instead of turning yourself into the prey, let the paper or feather serve as prey.

The biting of the brush can indicate that she is itchy, cats will lick or bite themselves when an itchy area is scratched or brushed. Some will salivate. Another possibility is that she is biting it because she is getting annoyed. Cats can still be purring but show annoyance by turning their ears, flicking their tail or lightly biting a brush or your hand/arm/fingers. I would stop brushing her when she starts biting the brush or only do it in short intervals so you do not irritate her too much. I wish you the best!
