Why is my cat suddenly sniffing my bed so much? Is it mating?

You may have brought in some smell or odor from another cat or from a dog and it settled on things in your apartment. Also new cleaners can cause this. Check your kitty's eyes, as this could also be behaviour shown when they suddenly go blind (are your kitty's pupils very wide and dark all the time?...if so, she needs to be seen ASAP, as high blood pressure can cause sudden blindness, but is reversible the sooner the kitty is seen,). But in general,sometimes cats sniff everything periodically and it is normal.

Some cats can be very sensitive to certain smells - Luca may smell another animal on your shirt if you have been around one, or it may be an area that has a lot of your scent on it from sweat glands on that part of your body. When cats smell things very intensely, they will often also want to put their mouth on the thing that they are smelling or even bite it, in some cases - it means that they're very intensely interested in the smell. So I would say that this is likely just an odd little behavioral quirk of hers :) If it's bothersome, you can move her off of your lap when she starts to sniff your shirt to prevent her from becoming so focused on it, or change into a fresh shirt before sitting down with her.

Snupe could be yeowling because he wants to go roaming for females with which to mate, and he may be marking his territory with urine. I'd have him seen by a vet for this problem, and get him neutered.

Hi, I hope Bonnie and Scarlet are doing well. heat cycles can cause some abnormal behavior in cats, so this may be it. As long as they are eating and drinking and using the litter box well, I don't see a medical emergency. Bedbugs can move to animals but usually don't cause a problem. I would examine them both for signs of bugs or red spots and treat with a medication called revolution you can get from your vet. The weather may be another factor. If it is unusually warm out, they may be just laying around and not very active. I would monitor them both carefully for signs of not eating or not using the litter box properly and if you do see that, take them to a vet. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Hi, it is difficult to tell for sure but normally when they are rubbing they release some pheromones and this is could be encouraged if you have any unfamiliar smells that perhaps you can't detect. For example if you have have been around other pets or people. One of my cats got crazy after I had my newborn, she would rub non stop and she also marked my leg when I was holding him ! I am not 100% sure why she would want to stay close to your head, perhaps a sense of security ? Are there any chances that Luna could be pregnant ?

This does seem like a strange behavior but I wouldn’t be too overly concerned about it. Your cat may have smelled something on the sheet and she was just interested in it. As long as she isnotherwose acting normally, eating and drinking well, and usingnher litter box then I would not be to concerned.

I recommend that you try a product called Feliway which can help cats deal with any stress inducing situations like the one you describe. You can buy this as a spray for example at your local pet store or online. If she does not improve, the other thing that should be considered is if there is a medical reason for all of this which is certainly possible. If her behavior does not improve, have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment. She is adorable! Good luck!
