Why is my cat sneezing, coughing, and wheezing after a recent bath?

It may be due to allergies or she may have developed an upper respiratory infection which can take up to 2 weeks to fully resolve. If she is having upper respiratory signs associated with the inhalation of the water and the milk such as changes in breathing, difficulty swallowing, nasal discharge, weakness, loss of appetite or other changes, please take her into see her veterinarian soon as she may have developed pneumonia from aspirating the liquids. She may need a chest x-ray to confirm this and may need to be on antibiotics for a while. If she appears normal otherwise, just keep an eye on herald take her in if any of the above signs are witnessed.

Young kittens are very susceptible to upper respiratory infections and the vaccine could have lowered her immunity making the infection more easily acquired. This may be just an upper respiratory infection which can be viral and last a good two weeks. If B isn't eating or isn't acting right then I would recommend going back to the veterinarian. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Pongkoy! Most upper respiratory infections in cats are viral. If the discharge from his nose is clear then you can just monitor him. Hopefully he can clear the viral infection. If he is lethargic, not eating, and/or the discharge changes to yellow or green he would need to see a Veterinarian for antibiotics. I would clear his nose a couple of times a day and you can keep him in a steamy bathroom twice a day for 10-15 mins. Be sure that you start Pongkoys kitten vaccinations in the next 1-2 weeks. Shelby most likely has an upper respiratory infection or viral cold. This can cause nasal congestion and poor appetite. I recommended you take a warm cloth and clean her nose as the nasal discharge can clog up the nostrils causing the mouth breathing. Also if you warm up wet food, fish is best, it will make it more appetizing as the heat will enhance the aroma of the food. That should help to,stimulate her appetite. If Shelby isn't better soon please take her in for treatment. As she's tiny I don't want her to be sick long as she doesn't have much body reserves. Hello, and thanks for your question about Nautica. Upper respiratory viruses are very common infections in cats, and if both cats are sneezing then that would be my first thought. However, in some cases upper respiratory infections can lead to secondary bacterial infections or pneumonia, and sometimes they do need medication to get back on track. Additionally, there are some other less common causes of coughing/sneezing such as parasites. The rash in the photo looks pretty mild - I wonder if Nautica was rubbing or scratching at his face and caused a little trauma or irritation to the skin. Often respiratory infections cause some irritation of the eyes and face, which may have made him rub/scratch there. Since you mentioned that he's not quite acting like himself, I would recommend bringing them in to the vet. Your vet will do an exam, and if they are concerned that this is something more serious than a mild respiratory virus they will discuss any medications that might benefit your cats, or if any follow up diagnostics are necessary, such as a fecal exam (to look for parasites that can cause respiratory symptoms), or x-rays of the chest.
