My cat smacks lips, drools, and has a runny nose. Should I be worried?

It’s quite possible, cats can be really sensitive to scents. If they both started drooling at the same time, then I would suspect an environmental cause. So a strong scent, or something they could have licked or eaten. Some houseplants will cause drooling. You can rinse their mouths out with water to help, but if it doesn’t improve in 24 hours, they should get checked out by a vet.

I don't think I would be overly concerned but cats do often try to tell us something with subtle behavior changes. If she had a tooth removed a few months ago it may be related to that. It could be allergies. It could be the beginning of an upper respiratory issue. I suggest you start her on a lysine supplement to help boost her immune system and monitor her. Poor Maizey! I would be concerned that she has a dental problem causing the sneezing, nasal discharge, drooling, and chewing motions that you are seeing. A dental problem such as a broken tooth or a tooth root abscess could be the cause of this, and it would lead to her drinking less water due to pain.
