Why is my cat sleeping more and crying from pain when moving?

If he does, even if you can't find one right now I would be concerned that he suffered a bite of some kind, as cats can develop abscesses fairly easily when they suffer a trauma. I would be concerned by his behavior, as it does sound like there may be an underlying issue going on, such as an infection, GI upset, or an underlying medical issue (such as kidney disease or diabetes). If he doesn't perk up, start eating and getting some energy back, I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his change in behavior, have any necessary testing done (xrays, bloodwork) and start any treatment he may need to resolve it. I'm sorry to hear that Jinx seems painful and has been sleeping more than normal. It is possible that all of his signs are related to arthritis, but sleeping more could be due to underlying health conditions, such as diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, cancer, among others. To answer your question, yes, you should take Jinx to the vet for further evaluation. He will certainly need a physical exam and may also need some lab testing to assess his internal organ function. Ajax is an older boy and while he can slow down with age, this increased sleeping could be due to a medical illness such as arthritis (it's painful to move), a systemic illness, or infection. I would have him seen by a vet today if possible for a health check.

It sounds like there are a couple of things going on with Jax. Not eating can be due to systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. The licking and hair loss can be due to fleas, mites, or allergies. Not eating will lead to weight loss. Have him seen by a vet for these problems today.

Poor Minx. It definitely sounds like she is either in pain or just not feeling well. There are several things that can cause these symptoms from a hurt neck or spine, pain elsewhere, an abscess, toxins, liver or kidney issues and much more. I would have your vet take a look at her. Your vet will be able to do a fecal, blood work and even x-rays if needed to help determine the cause and get her started on the proper meds to help her feel better. I hope this helps!

I would recommend that you have Xavier examined by a vet. Limping can be caused by a sprain, a fracture, joint issues, etc. Cats are good at hiding pain, so if you see a limp you can know it is is painful. Also, sleeping more and not purring are often signs of pain. The vet will do an exam and maybe x-rays to determine the most appropriate treatment.

If Jax goes outside, he may be hunting or even getting food from a neighbor, so he may no longer need much food from you. Yowling is a normal behavior in strong-willed cats. It is their way of telling you they want something, and some cats are very vocal about it! The vomiting could be a one-time thing, or it could be caused by hairballs, food allergy, eating too fast, GI blockage, intestinal parasites, IBD, among others. If you can stand the howling, I would recommend continuing to keep Jax inside for monitoring. If his appetite does not return, if he continues to vomit, or if he develops diarrhea, he should be evaluated by a veterinarian.
