My cat is skinny, limping, and falling. Is she seriously ill?

It could be that Mulan has injured herself, causing the limping and loss of appetite. It likely hurts her to have to go down stairs, which is why she won't go it. In addition, when cats are painful, their appetite goes down as well. She is in pain, and unfortunately you cannot give her any human pain medications. Many are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. She does need to see a vet for this problem. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Poor Simba sounds very weak and it does sound like she is ill and in pain. She could have been injured, she could be suffering from a systemic illness, or she could have an infection. Her symptoms are very general, so it's hard for me to narrow down more what could be going on with her without seeing her in person. Given her age and the fact that she is has been like this all night and day, taking her into the vet now would be the best option. The vet can diagnose what is causing her to behavior like this, and can treat accordingly.

Hi! Thanks for entrusting us with Nika's care today! Lameness can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. This may be weakness as she recovers from her sickness but likely not. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Hi and thanks for posting. Cats do not show pain like we do and they do a great job at hiding it. If she is making noise when you touch the leg, then it means she is in pain. Bella could have a fractured leg or pelvis. She may also have a ligament tear or other injury. I would recommend Bella see her veterinarian to have an exam and x-rays to help determine what the injury is where it is so she can get treatment and start feeling better soon.

Poor Boubou. If he is limping, he is in pain and unfortunately there are no OTC pain relievers you can give him. Human ones are toxic to cats and will kill him if given. Being abnormally thin is of great concern, and he could be trembling due to pain. Salivating a lot could be due to pain, maybe from limping, but it could also be from a dental problem which could lead to him being abnormally thin. Frankly I'm quite concerned about him and feel the best course of action for him is to take him into a vet immediately. I think he warrants an emergency vet visit now, please do that. Hello! Weight loss can be from diabetes, thyroid disease, even cancer. Or, can just be due to a new food, or increased exercise! The limping may well be a separate problem, due to an injury to the limb. I would suggest that your take Emrys in to see his vet, to have a check up, and possibly some blood tests. Best of luck!

I'm glad Panda returned home! Limping is a sign of pain in cats, and if she can't jump onto the sofa, then I suspect she may have an injury to her spine, hips, or back legs. Muscle wastage and weakness in her back legs is serious as well. I would take her into a vet immediately. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, a urinalysis, and a lameness exam to determine what is causing her symptoms, and how to treat them. She could have gotten hit by a car while missing, or attacked by another animal. Please take her into the vet now.
