My cat has skin wounds on paws and body. What home remedies are safe?

These sound like wounds from being in a bad fight with another cat. It’s best to have these treated by your veterinarian if you can. In the meantime clean each wound with hydrogen peroxide and then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on them. I’m concerned about the ones around his anus. There may be a tear in the rectum that may be very serious and need a veterinary exam to determine if the feces are coming out the wound. If so this could cause more infection and may need to be stitched closed. Antibiotics will help these wounds heal more quickly also. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Anget! Anget should see a Veterinarian due to the severity of his skin condition. Possible causes are sarcoptic mange (contagious mite), demodectic mange (non-contagious mite), skin infection from yeast or bacteria or ring worm. Demodec is easy to treat these days with flea and tick medications like Nexgard and Bravecto. The vet will need to do a skin scrape to diagnose if he has mites and ring worm is cultured and treated with antifungal pills and topical dips. A lot of times even when they have mites they have secondary skin infections that require antibiotics. I don't think there is a a solution that will cure him with out a proper diagnosis first. You can try disinfection with different solution like hibiscrub or betadine ones. Unfortunately antibiotics seems to be needed, so I would recommend an immediate check up if disinfection is not working as infection could be a major risk. A picture of the lesion could help to determine underlying cause more specifically.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Stormy! I would shave the fur away from the wound then clean it well with water and a mild soap (avoid hydrogen peroxide). Then apply triple antibiotic ointment twice daily. The most important thing is to have Stormy wear and E-collar to prevent licking and keep him indoors. He should see a Vet as soon as possible to at a minimum get antibiotics but to also see if surgery is required to close the wound. I would suspect that this could be from another cat, some other animal or a puncture wound from a sharp object. It sounds as though the lesion is infected with your description. I would recommend soaking the foot in a mixture of betadine and water until you have a light brown solution. Soak the foot with this solution twice daily for 10 minutes at a time. It is difficult to say what the wound is from. I suggest you clip the hair around it as short as possible (be very careful not to cut his skin). Then apply this wound spray gel 3-4 times per day. For cleansing the wound, you can use a diluted solution of Betadine and Saline mixed together until you have a light brown solution. Use this to clean the area and to help decontaminate the wound. If the wound begins to develop signs of infection such as pus, swelling, etc., I would recommend having Slinky examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made.
