My cat is sick and not eating. Can I give raw eggs or diluted electrolyte water?

Please feed your cat again. Cats do not do well with out food for more than 12 hours. You can also worm your cat. Feed her some boiled boneless chicken and then slowly mix on her normal commercial cat food again. I am assuming you are in India.

If you are that concerned maybe there is a local emergency hospital you can bring him too and have him seen immediately. If not, then try gently syringing water and canned food as a slurry. Salmonella poisoning can be lifethreatening for several reasons - the infection can spread to the rest of the body (sepsis) and result in severe dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea. If you believe that Furby is having any of these signs, he should be seen by a vet immediately for supportive care. He may need IV medications, and antibiotics depending on the bacterial infection (E. coli, Campylobacter, and Helicobacter can be to blame as well). I do not recommend giving Furby antibiotics for humans, as they may be toxic.

Make sure he is getting plenty of fluids. I would syringe him water and feed him wet food to get more moisture in him. I would feed a diet of chicken and rice and add in a probiotic such as Purina fortiflora which can be found online quite easily or at your local pet store. If there is no improvement or he worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It's impossible to know what happened to Melcho on his journey. What you are doing currently is the best you can do until a vet is open. Continue to syringe feed small frequent amounts of a/d and water. If available near you an oral electrolyte solution for kids with diarrhea such as pedialyte maybbe helpful to give him orally. Look for an unflavored version. Or water off of tuna fish cans or low sodium chicken broth can be used if he will lap it. Give him a warm area such as a heating pad on low if he wants it but don't force him to stay on a heating pad. Make sure he can move off of it if he desires. Small frequent feedings are key. Do not do a lot of food or liguid at once. Good luck to Melcho. I hope he feels better soon. But I would recommend a veterinary visit asap to evaluate him for injury even if he starts eating on his own.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about your cat. Any balanced cat food is ok as long as it is appropriate for his age. Milk, no never give milk. Kittens and puppies once weaned from their mother lose the ability to digest the milk sugar lactose. Just like people that are lactose intolerant. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, intestinal cramping can develop. Just provide fresh water always.

Hello, sorry to hear about Otto. He may not be eating because he does not feel well. He has an upper respiratory infection and likely feels very congested, he also now developed diarrhea and vomiting. So over all he likely feels very sick. He needs to continue his medications and be given time to get over his illness, unless his signs are getting worse. What you may talk to your veterinarian tomorrow about is starting Otto on an appetite stimulant to get him to start eating sooner. The sooner he eats, the better he will likely feel. Additionally, if he is not getting better you may need to consider other diagnostics including an abdominal ultrasound. Hope Otto feels better soon.
