My cat was attacked by a dog. Why is she now sick with hair loss?

This is enough concerning things to warrant a trip to the veterinarian. The hair loss may be due to allergies, to fleas or food, or environmental contaminants. The vomiting could be related to hair loss or food allergy and the vocalization can certainly indicate pain. She may have a number of conditions, including a urinary tract infection, always suspect when their toilet habits change abruptly. The best first step is going to see the vet for an exam and labwork. based on those results, the vet will be better able to determine the reason for the cat's illness and get her started on the correct treatment.

I'm so sorry Lizzie went through this traumatic event! Without seeing her and her injuries it is very hard so say. If they shook her at all they could have caused bruising to her lungs or brain. The other concern would be any puncture wounds. I would look her over carefully for wounds and keep her inside for the next 24-48 hours to monitor her. How scary. I would recommend going to a vet for evaluation and x-rays even though it doesn't seem like she has injuries. Internal bleeding in the abdomen or chest is very common when small animals are attacked by larger animals. She could also be in shock and need some supportive care. If going to an emergency/24hour clinic isn't an option, keep her warm and offer food and water as soon as she'll take them, but know she may be in more danger than is immediately obvious and sadly internal injuries can results in fairly sudden death.

It is possible to be from a food allergy or an environmental allergy. This may be the cause of her vomiting as well. You really need to have Lilli to a vet for exam. Something is obviously wrong. You can't leave her like this to vomit every day and be miserable. With the hair loss, she could have ringworm, mange or any number of diseases. Again, a vet visit is needed to figure this out. Also, I suggest you have her spayed so she doesn't get pregnant anymore. Obviously that took a toll on her body.

You need to take your cat to a veterinary doctor for an exam and for treatment of the lice. She may also have sarcoptes mites. This can be treated very easily with an ivermectin injection. Being so infested with lice can make a cat very ill as the lice will suck her blood and then she can get anemic. Since she is grooming a lot she is probably ingesting a lot of hairs which makes hair balls which she will try to get rid of by regurgitation. You can get a so-called "hairball remedy paste" in a pet shop or your local pharmacy or at the vet. This paste will help your cat get rid of the hairballs. Yes, I would be concerned that there may be internal injuries, especially as she is bleeding when she sneezes and she is also likely to be in significant pain and discomfort. Dog bites are at significant risk for infection also so I strongly recommend a full check up by your vet
