Should I worry about my cat getting sick from another cat's hair?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 23 days old | 6 lbs

Is it possible for my cat to get sick if she comes in contact with another cats hair. Its worrying me like crazy. You see my friend has an outdoor cat and he came today to bring me gifts. I saw a hair of HIS cat on my gift so I threw away the gift sadly. So all day I've been extremely paranoid thinking theres the other cats hair in my house. I had to put MY cat in a drawer for 9 hours because I'm afraid she'll come in contact with the other cats hair and she'll get sick.

There really is no concern about a few cat hairs transmitting an illness to your cat. I would not stress about it. I'm not sure what you meant by locking your cat in a drawer for 9 hours, but that doesn't sound like a very good idea and would not recommend that.
