My cat got Sevin dust on him. Did I poison him? What do I do?

For cats I recommend Bravecto or Comfortis. For dogs with Nexgard, Bravecto or Simparica. You do need to treat the house: vacuum daily and throw bags out each day or clean canister after each vacuum. Put the bag in an outdoor trash can and keep the cans away from the doors. Keep stray cats and wild life away from your doors by removing door mats and sources of food. Sprinkling boric acid powder before vacuuming can help. Yes, Sentry products are not recommended. If you need flea prevention you should get it from your vet. My recommendation would be to try and wash off that medication ASAP. Use Dawn dishsoap to wash the cats since it will cut through the oils in the skin. Be sure to rinse them thoroughly and dry them with towels (not hair dryers). Yes, permethrine is toxic to cats, and even small amounts can cause severe and fatal poisoning. Do not put this on Rowena or anywhere near her. If she has fleas, I would get a flea treatment from your vet to treat them. Remember you will have to disinfect the environment at well. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. Dawn dish soap is usually non-toxic, and may just cause some stomach upset such as vomiting or diarrhea. You can try giving a bland meal of boiled rice and chicken to help settle his upset stomach. However, if he continues vomiting, or his symptoms worsen (lethargy, refusal to eat, pale gums/tongue) then bringing him into your local vet or ER clinic may be best.

Bathe her with Dawn dish soap right away to get it off her and call your vet. It can cause neurological problems and she may need supportive care. Blue Dawn is the best, but any dish soap will do in a pinch.
