Cat had seizure, now stiff & sick after vet visit. What should I do?

There are many possible causes: fever, infections, ate something that upset his tummy, or not being able to pee. You didn't say how old he is but metabolic problems like kidney disease or diabetes is also possible. If his symptoms continue then have your Vet look at him tomorrow. If he isn't urinating/straining to urinate then have him seen ASAP. I wish you the best and hope Thomas feels better soon!

Poor kitty! Your pet sounds like he needs to be hospitalized and properly diagnosed to find out the underlying cause of his illness. They will likely need to run some tests (bloodwork, x-rays, etc) in order to diagnose what's wrong. Whether that be an internal musculoskeletal injury, heart condition, stroke, etc. I am not sure what injections your pet was given, but it definitely doesn't seem like it is enough treatment for your very ill pet. He is in critical condition so I would advise to making him in right away! Best of luck with your kitty.

I'm sorry Bindi isn't doing well! It could be that she is suffering from a severe GI infection, could have eaten something rotten or toxic, or could have a foreign body. Taking her into the vet was exactly the right thing to do, and if she isn't getting better, I'd recommend having blood tests, a urinalysis, and possibly abdominal x-rays done to try to diagnose what is causing her symptoms so she can be treated.

Poor Icky!! He sounds pretty sick and I suggest you get him to your vet as soon as possible. I would be concerned about the seizure activity. It could be caused by something affecting the brain, causing the tingling and itching, but really being a partial seizure. Maybe he sustained some trauma while out? It could also be what's called hyperesthesia syndrome. This is also a type of seizure activity but is more a strong sensitivity over the lower back that results in what you describe. Cats have very strong neurologic sensation in their mid to lower back. If your cat simply has fleas or some other allergic reaction causing intense itching in that area, the act of scratching the area can elicit the neurologic response of urinating and over reaction that you describe. Check your cat closely for fleas. Really, though I suspect something serious is going on here and he needs to be seen by a vet.

Hi there. Due to the nature of your pet's illness and conccurrent illnesses-it sounds as if he may have a few things going on. If he was still suffering from residual effects from the ivermectin poisoning, it is likely the Bartonella is even harder on his small body. Depending on the age of your animal and the level of tissue damage from the illnesses (both of which we are unsure of here) it's is impossible to predict his likelihood of recovery or how long the seizures will last. Normally, I will tell you that seizures in this particular case is a relatively poor prognostic indicator. Any animal that had undergone so many issues in a short time should be hospitalized and on iv fluids if at all possible for treatment. My best to you both.

I"m sorry Cat isn't doing well! I would take him back into a vet today for blood tests and a urinalysis. These tests will check his organ functioning to see what could be causing his symptoms. It is concerning that he isn't improving, and he does need a recheck today. As for the hard lumps, these could be hives from an allergic reaction, but without seeing him in persons, I can't say for certain. It would be a good idea to have these checked out by a vet as well.

It is important to see exactly what is going on, to determine that he is having a true seizure, as opposed to a collapse or localized tremors for a different reason. A video would be very helpful and I would be happy to provide a consultation. If this is a true seizure, they are usually the result of abnormal brain activity. This can be due to a large number of diseases including brain cancer, infection, or epilepsy (the cause of which is not currently known in cats). With brain cancer or epilepsy, blood work can be normal, however, x-rays or a CT scan would determine if there is something else causing the seizures. It may be helpful to know that seizures themselves are not thought to be painful, and it is normal for animals to urinate/defecate while they are having a seizure. This frequency of seizures is definitely confusing and distressful for Clunker, and a veterinarian can prescribe an anti-seizure medication to keep him comfortable. It is important to have Clunker evaluated by a vet to ensure that there is nothing else that can be causing collapse or tremors, such as a hormonal issue or viral infection, and to have him treated appropriately.
